Tod Farrell

Tod Farrell is chief technology officer at ATX. He is responsible for identifying technology trends and opportunities for innovation, introducing ATX’s technical capabilities to potential customers and partners, and the evaluation and identification of appropriate technology solutions for service delivery.

Farrell was previously vice president of Customer Solutions and director of Project Management; his responsibilities included technical customer management, new business development, software development, technical vendor relations and project management. He joined ATX in March 1999.

Prior to ATX, Farrell worked on telematics and navigation for 10 years within various organizations at Motorola, where his responsibilities included account management, project management, software design and management, and protocol design. During his first few years at Motorola, Farrell was on the Corporate Research and Development team that performed groundbreaking work on in-vehicle route generation, traffic sensitive routing, route guidance, and spoken language interface.

At ATX and Motorola, Farrell was directly involved in the launch of telematics products for Lincoln, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Rolls-Royce and Infiniti. The telematics protocol that he authored was implemented in millions of vehicles in North America.

Farrell holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in computer engineering from National Technological University, a consortium of leading engineering universities in North America.
